Mâlăncrav / Almakerék / Malmkrog

 

The Evangelical Church was built in the second half of the 14th century by family Apafi, whom were the owners of Mălâncrav/Almakerék/Malmkrog until the end of the 17th century. In the 15th century the Church was fortified. The murals in the sanctuary are from the 14th century, representing the Calvary, the Holy Mass, the story of Judas, St. George and other saints. The paintings on the northern wall are possibly from the 15th century, representing the Genesis, the childhood of Jesus and the legend of Maria. The altar is from the 15th century. Originally Apafi Mihály I and Apafi Mihály II, Princes of Transylvania were buried here together with their wives .
