Văleni / Magyarvalkó / Walken

The nave and remains of the southern windows of the - today Reformed - church of Magyarvalkó, founded by the Valkai family, are of 13th century provenience. It was reconstructed in 1452, the tower is from the 16th, the fortifications are from the 17th century. It's painted, wooden coffered ceiling was made in 1778 by master Umling Lőrinc and his son. For marking the date of reconstruction, one has used for the first time ever Arabic numbers on a church-building in Hungary, though they are mixed with Roman ones.
